It's been hard to find much time for school work, and chores lately. Life is overwhelming, but I like it this way. In fact, the only reason I'm given the chance to write now is that we're not doing much in class so I have wandered to the closest computer to catch up; that and I'm inspired by the Steve Miller Band.
I'm looking at my post from less than a week ago and it amazes me that so much has already changed since then.

734.
It's weeks like this that remind me why I love school so much. Everything was so much fun, and so perfect. I don't know how I ever survived all through the first semester of this year, sitting at home. I guess it's true that if you don't know what you're missing out on, it doesn't bother you much. Now that I know everything I had to live without, I could never go back to that without being miserable. I'm almost happy it happened the way it did though, because now I realize how important it is to have friends around all the time, things to look forward to, inside jokes, reasons to smile, reasons to laugh, and maybe even situations that catch you by surprise... no matter how embarrasing they may be.
I've also realized that there is no group of people out there quite like my friends. They are, without a doubt, the WEIRDEST bunch of kids I have ever met, but you know what? That's what I absolutly love about them.
Years and years from now when I think back about high school, I'm going to have tons of outrageous stories, thanks to all of them and the situations we all work ourselves into obliviously.
I can also guarentee Bus 734 will be something I remember most. The long life talks held on those ripped up seats with our permanent marker drawings, and the sticky floors are among my favorite things in life. From moshing in the pitch black of the mornings, and laughing so loudly we keep everyone from falling back to sleep, to long life talks, and accounts of our day on the way home... I look forward to it all, everyday.

Well that's embarrasing.
Have you ever tried to run your fingers through your hair to appear confident, only to have them get caught in a tangle? You look absolutely ridiculous...
I speak from experience,unfortunatly.

Yeah, I know. May the people rejoice, and whatnot.
I just found what I had meant to be the start of my blog, back in the midst of all that was happening. If you care to read it, here it is...
Folks, it has been a less-than-stellar few months healthwise, and I want nothing more than for things to just go back to normal.Sitting home alone every day, and skipping school is hardly the bed-jumping, junk-food eating fantasy world conjured up by my younger self. It's not too bad though. These days, I'm more apt to be found dog-earing pages of this month's Seventeen magazine, or reclining in my favorite chair, penning my amusing or interesting thoughts (as an alternative to actually talking to myself, I guess. Not there yet, as luck would have it.) I suppose I've always had a bit of recluse in me, so I am able to revel in my own company...most of the time. When I'm home, I listen to music for most of the day, and it often borders on deafening. This activity is not at all restricted by time of day. My soundtrack is just as likely to accompany my "getting-ready" routine at 8 a.m. as it is to provide background noise for some spontaneous midnight baking. I could not possibly sacrifice the frequency, volume, or nature of my tunes.I do miss school, but knowing that I won't be able to head back for a while, I intend to make the most of being home now. Placing myself in unpredictable situations is something I've always done obliviously, but coming out of them with one hell of a story to tell makes it all worthwhile. I have the strongest feeling that this will begin to occur more often than usual as I continue to look for things to do around here.

3-second rule
3-second rule (noun): the vow to make a move, approach someone, or voice an opinion in the first seconds that it comes to mind so you don't chicken out. Used by players that want to seem confident, and by shy teenage girls that otherwise back out of things too often.
Yesterday, I came up with this solution to the problem I had. Things went good when I used it today, and so I plan on making it a part of my normal routine from now on. I figure it's a good life skill to be used in any specific situation.

Hey Good Looking!
In the shower today, the shampoo bottle caught my eye with " Hey Good Looking!" written across the top. I won't even waste time lying...there's just something about recieving that compliment while you're naked that makes your day.

Looking forward to whatever's coming my way.
It's already 10 pm. I'm sitting in front of the computer with a variety of thoughts jumbling my mind, and the goldfish cracker bag... cute, huh? I should probably be heading to bed, but I already know I won't be able to sleep. I haven't been able to get to sleep too easily in days with everything on my mind. I'm just too excited, and excited for what? I don't have really anything planned. Suspense is a favorite of mine though, so I don't mind.
I hope this is enough of an introduction.
I never expected to be sitting home, beginning a blog on a Tuesday night. Especially not now that I'm nearly a junior in high school. Writing out feelings, and detailed events of my life were fine in middle school, but the very thought of documenting it all now seems ridiculous. In fact, after I deleted an old blog from 7th grade, I never intended to have another one. So much has happened in the past few months though that I feel like I have to change my mind. I need a way to get everything out, and writing has always helped me out with that. I'm not the kind of person to sit down and tell you my problems, or anything that even slightly excites me. I'd actually much rather write it down. So, with all of this said, here I am, and here's my story...
Merriam, Nicole Lynn 15/F
.... Lately, that's how I've been taught to refer to myself. I've had a number of rules, precautions, and limitations thrown into my face after a major health scare in September '07, and things still aren't quite back to normal.
Since then, I'm really realizing what's important to me, and how to make the most of every day, which is the reasoning behind my blog title: Carpe Diem (seize the day).
This might sound odd, but a fortune cookie I got a few weeks ago says it best;
"Many a false step is made by standing still."
I keep the paper with me every day, either tucked in my pocket, or stuffed somewhere I'm sure I won't lose it, and I'm constantly reminded to live my life without hesitations. That's a big deal to me, because hesistations hold you back. It keeps you from accomplishing goals, keeps you from complete happiness.
It may mean getting myself into a little trouble once in a while, but if you ask me, that's what keeps it exciting.
In just the past couple weeks, I've also realized that living this way may mean a bit of embarrasment is thrown my way, and even some intense heart palpitations. I think I like it this way though. I know exactly where I stand on all important issues because I have strong opinions; and because of this I don't know where I stand with a lot of people. It's exciting.
